Drilled the close quarters bolts with the new ream I bought. Drilled the inboard rivet holes as well.

Building Log – January 15, 2016- 4 Hours
Marked both spars for the proper hardware, and test drilled a couple of holes for tight tolerance bolts. The ream I have won’t work. The interference fit is too tight. I’ll have to order the 0.1890 ream as called for in the plans.
Building Log – December 29, 2016- 4 Hours
Deburred the main components of left wing spar. Reassembled with clecos and temporary bolts. Wore down the scotch bright wheel by a considerable amount.
Building Log – August 11, 2016- 1 Hour
Double checked for hardware inventory and prepared to purchase new tools needed. Bits reamers countersink etc.
Building Log – February 14, 2016- 1 Hour
If this were in a hangar it would be called “hangar rash” but since it’s being stored in the basement it going to be called “someone knocked my part off the shelf and was afraid to tell me” rash. I took some time and un-riveted the rib, bent it back into shape, fixed the crack and put it all back together. It’s not perfect but better.
I will have to pay it some more attention when I paint it.
Building Log – February 13, 2016- 4 Hours
Ran into a poorly set rivet on the vertical tail rear channel. Took a fair amount of time to get it out. After that, smooth sailing. This completes the pieces of the vertical tail. Now to move onto the wings.
Building Log – January 19, 2016- 1.5 Hours
After many months of being away from building, I’m baaaack! Just deburred and dimpled the rear channel of the vertical tail. I’m not getting any younger. Got to keep with building. See you tomorrow!
Building Log – March 10, 2015 – 2 Hours
Built a close quarters dimpling tool
And attached the hinge to the vertical tail
Building Log – January 10, 2015 – 2 Hours
After many months of distraction I’m back to building again. I closed the Vertical tail yesterday. Next step is deburring and dimpling.
In the category of “distraction” I put family, holidays, working on my other plane, my regular job, etc.
Building Log – June 6, 2014 – 64 hours
I finished dimpling and began reassembling the horizontal stabilizer for a total of 64 hours. This includes de-burring and countersinking the piano hinge on both sides.
Using the dimple dies in the C-frame is very simple but I have to be careful not to be overly aggressive with hammer (no I don’ t have anger management issues!)
The carpet covers some 2x4s that keep the work at the same level as the dimple dies.
